With Doctor Who taking a break from TV in 2016, the DWCA is encouraging its members to engage with the programme via other media.
That’s why we’re starting up a book club, allowing both fans and bookworms to discover great Doctor Who adventures that only exist in print.
Our inaugural meeting, to be held on the last Friday of April, will be themed ‘My Favourite Doctor Who Book’. For this first meeting, attendees are encouraged to bring along the Doctor Who book that they are most fond of. By the end of the evening, you should have a good idea of what makes your fellow book lovers tick; you might even find yourself hunting down those books that come highly recommended!
A more traditional book club style, with a set text for everyone to read and discuss, will commence for the second meeting. This is currently planned for July – i.e. the next month where there are five Fridays – but may be sooner if there is enough interest.
The meeting will be held on Friday 29 April in the gazebo area of Burwood RSL from 7pm. Just go up the stairs near the RSL entrance and start walking towards the conference rooms – you’ll find us on your left-hand side.
If you’re interested in coming to the first event, please email president@doctorwhoaustralia.org so we know how many people to expect.
